Technical Writing for Engineering, Construction & Technicians is highly specific in what it aims to achieve, i.e. passing on information accurately, correctly etc. using understandable formatting to lead the user through the information.
The field of technical writing covers a variety of areas of major value to any organisation. Some of these areas are:
• The writing of technical reports using easy-to-follow formats and presentation.
• The writing of proposals – from relatively easy to major proposals; formats remain the same, it is content that changes.
• The writing of procedures that are focussed on the user and their understanding of the work to be done.
• Creating presentations that work - correct use of colours, fonts, font sizes, graphics and displays etc.
• The writing of Minutes of meetings and accompanying agendas.
If the writer understands how to produce these documents and presentations clearly and with audiences targeted, the work of editing documentation should become part of the process of reporting information.

General Machinery Regulations
INTRODUCTION
The Occupational Health and Safety Act regulate and control health and safety in most organisations in South Africa. The prescriptions of this Act create minimum standard legislation for different persons that needs to be complied with. The main objective of this course is to equip role players with the knowledge and understanding of the Act and general regulations, aiding and ensuring legal compliance. Typical role players include persons such as employers, self employed persons, engineers, employees, contractors, designers, manufactures, importers, sellers and suppliers.
The GMR2 (7) (a) should be competent to assist the GMR 2 in his/her daily duties.
Vital functions in the operational control of the organisation is directly dependent on
the ability of engineers and engineers appointed under the General Machinery
Regulation
This course provides newly appointed GMR2’s with the techniques to effectively
participate in the workplace safety program.
